Here at North House, teeth is not the only thing we look after! Our aim is to not only improve the way you look but also the way your skin feels and offer a wide range of treatment options that are tailored for your skin. It's all about you as a patient, taking control over how you project your image and the decisions you make to achieve that. We want to help empower you, to express yourself with confidence and to own your beauty.

Dr Ram is actually trained with Harley Academy, the UK's largest provider of training in facial aesthetics and she is doing a masters in Injectable treatment and Cosmetic Dermatology. What this really means is that her training has been very vigorous and in line with standards set by Health Education England, helping to ensure that patient safety is our biggest priority. The benefit of having this treatment done by a Dentist is that they have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the facial anatomy and can perform this delicate work in a precise manner.

The first step would be to book a consultation with Dr Ram to discuss your concerns. This includes a very thorough assessment of your face and skin. She will then be able to advise you of the best treatment regime that will be tailored to help you with your concerns. The idea behind this is that one size doesn't fit all, and we all have different skin types with different skin concerns. By having a thorough consultation, we are then able to provide a more bespoke treatment plan which utilises multiple modalities of treatment such as wrinkle reduction treatment, dermal fillers, skin peels, micro needling and mesotherapy.

So what does Facial Aesthetics and Skin Rejuvenation entail?

1

Wrinkle reduction treatments using Bocouture. If you want to reduce the lines on your face without having to resort to surgical procedures, the good news is that facial rejuvenation techniques can soften wrinkles for a more youthful appearance.

Once injected into the skin, the botulinum toxin relaxes the tiny facial muscles, which cause expression lines, leaving the skin looking smoother. Areas on the face that can be treated include frown lines (vertical lines which form between the eyebrows), crows' feet around corners of the eyes, and horizontal forehead lines. The botulinum injection is quick and painless; usually lasting around 5-10 minutes and requires no anaesthetic. Results will usually be seen in a few days, sometimes taking between 4-7 days for the effects to be seen. As it's not a permanent treatment, the effects will wear off over time, so it's recommended that the procedure is repeated every 3-6 months for effective results.

2

Dermal filler treatments using Belotero to help plump up lines, wrinkles and area of volume loss, as well as enhance the lips and cheek areas, and hydrate the skin. Product injected within or beneath the skin can improve its physical features. Fillers can be injected at a deep and superficial level to help manage skin ageing. They can help improve fine lines, hydration and textures of the skin. As it's not a permanent treatment, the effects will wear off over time, so it's recommended that the procedure is repeated every 6-12 months for effective results.

3

Skin Peels or Chemical Exfoliation: bonds between cells in top layers of skin are purposely broken to encourage regeneration of new skin cells that help skin be more radiant, smoother, tighter, and even in appearance. Chemical peeling can be traced back to Ancient Egyptian times! It is reported that Cleopatra used to bathe in milk to remain youthful, Milk contains natural acids which are still commonly used in chemical peels. We use a combination of Exuviance and Neostrata peels which are both brands developed by Dermatologists to ensure you receive the best of skincare treatments.

Due to the continual turnover of skin cells, we usually recommend a course of 4-6 treatments, usually 4 weeks apart.

4

Microneedling: micro holes are purposely created in the skin to encourage the skin to repair itself and regenerate cells that are much healthier, leaving skin feeling refreshed, more radiant, and even in skin tone. Aims are to improve skin texture, laxity, and help reduce scars, marks and fine lines. Collagen and elastin are stimulated to help increase firmness and hydration of skin as well as smoothen the skins surface. Cocktails of specialised ingredients can be added to this treatment to help deliver active ingredients such as Hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C directly to the skin, having a profound effect on the health and appearance of your skin.

Due to the continual turnover of skin cells, we usually recommend a course of 4-6 treatments, usually 4 weeks apart.

5

Mesotherapy: very similar to microneedling, with specialised cocktails of active ingredient injected directly into skin layers to encourage skin to repair and regenerate form the deeper layers. Ingredients can be used to improve microcirculation in the skin, provide nutrition via vitamins, repair and protect the skin as well as stimulate collage.

Due to the continual turnover of skin cells, we usually recommend a course of 4-6 treatments, usually 4 weeks apart.

One or all of the above treatments can be combined as per recommendation of your practitioner to help the function and appearance of your skin,. Many patients also have treatment carried out on their neck and décolletage area to achieve the same rejuvenating effects. Individual results may vary with each treatment.

Dermal Fillers

There is a difference between the botulinum toxin and dermal fillers. The former relaxes the muscles whereas the fillers fill and plump up lines, wrinkles and grooves to make the skin look more youthful. Fillers usually consist of sterile hyaluronic acid gels made from non-animal sources. As we age the skin's natural hyaluronic acid is lost giving rise to the appearance of lines, wrinkles and folds. Injecting fillers into the skin acts to replace the hyaluronic acid that is lost with age. They are also used for lip enhancement and for shaping facial, hand and neck contours. lines around the mouth and top lip, known as 'smoker's lines'.

The injections, which only take a few minutes, are usually administered after a local anaesthetic has been applied either directly onto the skin, or incorporated into the syringe containing the filler. This serves to reduce or prevent any discomfort. The effect of the treatment is visible immediately. Depending on the area treated, skin type and the injection technique, the filler effect can last between six and 12 months (usually six months for lips). Follow-up treatments will help to maintain the plumped up look over time.

Before Before

Following your consultation and when you are happy to proceed, the treatment session will typically take about thirty minutes. During the session, Belotero® is injected into the specific area using a needle or cannula.

This tissue integration means Belotero® is suitable for very superficial injection with the confidence of smooth evenness after your treatment. Belotero® is available with an anaesthetic which helps reduce any sensation of pain.

There is little downtime following a Belotero® treatment, however it is recommended that you should avoid wearing makeup for at least 12 hours after treatment and avoid exposure to heat, UV rays and prolonged exposure to the sun for two weeks after treatment.

Immediately after treatment with Belotero® the area may feel numb due to the lidocaine within the product, this is temporary and will settle after a few minutes/ hours.

The area may feel slightly swollen or 'fuller', with possible bruising around the treated area, but again this is only temporary and may be experienced for a day or two after treatment. The treated area should not feel hard.

Please always remember to talk to your aesthetic practitioner about your Belotero® treatment.

Yes, the aesthetic results are immediate.

The effect will depend upon the individual and the area treated, for example in nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines), clinical data demonstrates results and visible improvements up to 12 months after a single treatment with Belotero® Balance.

Belotero® products are based on hyaluronic acid, a natural component of the skin. There are however, some injection related reactions which may occur and include slight redness, swelling, itching, bruising and pain at the injection site. The properties of Belotero® allow optimal spreading into your tissue. You may feel some itchiness around the treated area but will be left with even results.

Before treatment, you should inform your aesthetic practitioner if you are taking any medication and if you have any allergies, especially to lidocaine. You should always discuss any side effects and/or post treatment reactions with your practitioner. Don't be afraid to ask your aesthetic practitioner questions.

When you look in the mirror, how you appear on the outside and feel on the inside may not match. To own your beauty is to take control over how you project your image and the decisions you make to achieve that. Belotero® is not about painting by numbers for a generic look; it's a palette of HA fillers that enables your aesthetic practitioner, to tailor treatment by analysing your face and using the correct tools and techniques to respect your individuality.

Beauty is about allowing your character and personality to shine through. Using Belotero® your aesthetic practitioner can create a tailored treatment protocol to meet your individual needs.
